Agreeing to pay money in exchange for sexual services is charged as Soliciting for Prostitution in Fort Collins and Larimer County. Every few months, we see a new story in the news about the Fort Collins Police / Larimer County Sheriff running another prostitution sting. Sometimes these stories include the names and pictures of those charged, and other times it just lists the number of people caught in the sting. The most recent sting occurred a few days ago and led to 11 people being charged with Solicitation and/or Patronizing a Prostitute. The operation is always the same, with officers posting ads on sites like backpage.com and craigslist. When a person responds to the ad, the officer pretends to be the person offering sex and negotiates a meeting place and amount due – specifically spelling out what is expected sexually so there is no question about the motive for the meeting. When the person arrives at the agreed upon location, they are met by numerous officers and charged.
