New Bill Pushes to Allow for Prostituting?

One state official is presenting a bill that would decriminalize prostituting yourself. Read more about this proposed bill here.

There are many different Prostitution related crimes in Fort Collins and Larimer County. In many Prostitution cases, there are two different sides to be charged – the person prostituting themselves and the person paying for the prostitution. The person charging for the sex would likely be charged with Prostitution and the person paying for the sex would likely be facing Solicitation and Patronizing a Prostitute. However, one state is pushing to decriminalize one side of this transaction – the prostituting side. According to a news report, another state’s senator is presenting a bill that would basically legalize prostitution. Instead of criminally charging someone for prostituting themselves, they would approach it from a health care and mental health standpoint. Every other aspect of prostitution – soliciting, patronizing, pimping, etc. would still be illegal. Who knows, maybe if one state successfully passes it, others will follow suit?
