Pimping and Prostitution Attorney in Fort Collins, Colorado
Pimp or Life Coach?

A woman is charged with Pimping, but claims she was not a pimp, but a life coach. Read more here.

Pimping and other Prostitution related crimes are often the result of undercover operations in Fort Collins and Larimer County. At the beginning of the year, I wrote about a police officer who, while undercover, ended up receiving sexual services at a massage parlor that was under investigation for Prostitution and Pimping. Read that blog here. I just came across a new article with an update to the story, and thought it would make an excellent blog. Apparently, the woman in charge of the alleged Prostitution ring is taking her case to trial as she claimed she was a ‘life coach’ not a pimp. The problem is that the detective to whom she admitted her girls were performing sexual acts with clients was the one who received the special massage. She made a statement about getting a portion of what those girls brought in. Might be hard to take the word of an officer who is accused of enjoying those acts himself, though. However, if the DA can prove that she was profiting off of these sexual acts, then she could be convicted of Pimping.

Larimer County Pimping Lawyer: Definition of Life Coach Pimping in Colorado

The Larimer County, Colorado law definition of Pimping – C.R.S. 18-7-206 – is:

Any person who knowingly lives on or is supported or maintained in whole or in part by money or other thing of value earned, received, procured, or realized by any other person through prostitution commits pimping, which is a class 3 felony.

Often when we think of Pimping, we think of TV or movies where a big guy is forcing women to have sex with other men and he’s keeping most of the money. But that doesn’t at all have to be the case. It seems this woman was encouraging her ladies to make some extra dough and wanted to make sure she was compensated for being their life coach. The only problem is, by definition, her profiting from others committing prostitution (offering sexual acts in exchange for money) is Pimping.

In Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park, Pimping is a class 3 felony. This level felony is punishable by 4 to 12 years in the Colorado Department of Corrections and up to $750,000 in fines. The woman was offered to plead to Attempted Pimping, a class 4 felony, and would have been sentenced to 3 years of probation if she took that deal, but she refused and is proceeding to trial. I guess we will see what happens!
