Assault in the Third Degree is charged in Fort Collins and Larimer County when a person is accused of causing bodily injury to another. Recently, a juvenile was charged with this crime after an altercation on the ice with an opposing player of a hockey team crossed a line. We all know that fights happen in hockey. I mean, watch any NHL game and you will see that it’s common for players to get into on the ice. However, during a recent hockey tournament in Colorado, a teen seemingly crossed a line and ended up getting charged with Assault. According to the report, the alleged victim tripped on the ice and fell on the accused’s stick. In trying to get his stick back, he pushed down the alleged victim repeatedly and then kicked him in the head three times. The accused juvenile claimed that the alleged victim was holding onto his leg and he was kicking him to get him off. He was charged in municipal court, but could have easily been charged with the 3rd Degree Assault in a Colorado County Court, like Larimer County Court.
