Extortion is charged in Fort Collins and Larimer County when a person threatens another in order to get that person to do something. A man was recently sentenced to 35 years in prison for Extortion after manipulating young girls and women into sending him sexually explicit photos. According to the report, the man used social media and would convince them they were in a romantic relationship, offer to pay them, or threaten them in order to get the naked photos. One of the girls who sent photos was 10 years old. It’s likely that if this had occurred in Colorado, the man would have also faced charges for Sexual Exploitation of a Child – the child pornography crime.
