We might not all agree on the laws that the State of Colorado has passed, but they are the laws we are expected to follow in Fort Collins, Loveland, and Estes Park. According to a recent news report, a father found out his 16-year-old daughter was having an intimate relationship with their 21-year-old neighbor. When he contacted police, he was told that it was not criminal, as a 16-year-old can consent under this circumstance. He also contacted an advocacy group, which told him the same thing. So, the posted a large sign in the neighborhood that read: “Danger! Child molester lives in first house on the right.” This man created his own sex offender registry and labeled his young neighbor a child molester! No one claimed the encounters were non-consensual or that there was any type of assault involved.
