Alcohol Education and Therapy After DUI or DWAI in Fort Collins
In Fort Collins, Loveland, Estes Park, and across Larimer County, alcohol education / therapy is a mandatory part of most Driving While Ability Impaired (DWAI) and Driving Under the Influence (DUI) sentences. Those who pled guilty or were convicted of one of these alcohol related driving crimes will be required to complete Level I or Level II Education, Therapy and/ or both. These leveled classes are state approved alcohol and drug driving safety education and/ or treatment programs. The approved treatment providers must follow a DUI specific curriculum approved by the state and the sessions must be held in person. No online programs qualify in Colorado. The amount of time a person is required to commit to is based on many different factors. Some may only have to complete an education course, while others may have to do both education classes and therapy. Let’s look at the different types of alcohol education and therapy and what may be required of you if you are facing a DWAI or DUI.
