Obstructing a Firefighter (or Peace Officer) is charged in Fort Collins and Loveland when a person is accused of trying to stop one of these government employees from performing their job. We often hear stories about people getting charged with this crime while dealing with law enforcement, but this story is a little different. According to the report, a man and his father were both arrested for Obstructing after trying to stop firefighters from putting out a fire at their home. The men were uncooperative in telling emergency responders if there was anyone else in the home (there apparently were more people inside) and kept trying to go back in. They repeatedly told officers that they couldn’t enter the home without a warrant. Telling firefighters that they aren’t allowed to enter the home when there is an active fire is preventing them from doing their job. Both men were arrested and charged.
