When a person is convicted of or pleads guilty to a sexual offense, often registering as a sex offender is a requirement. If the required person does not register as required, then Failure to Register as a Sex Offender (FTR) charges may result. However, it doesn’t have to just be not showing up to local law enforcement quarterly or annually (depending on the conviction) that can get you charged with this crime. Not updating your registration as necessary can also cause problems. That seems to be the case for the brother of the mayor of Denver. He recently turned himself in after a warrant was issued. He had not updated his registry after changing addresses and was charged for FTR.
